MUR Initiative

MUR means footstep in Mongolian. Our work is to keep those footsteps possible.

MUR means footstep in Mongolian. A footstep is a quiet thing. It belongs to the animal that leaves it and to the land that holds it. Where wildlife can still walk — where a snow leopard can still cross a ridge, a fish still travel a river, an eagle still find a thermal — there is still a future. Our work is to keep those footsteps possible.

Mission

MUR Initiative protects Mongolia's wildlife by caring for the habitats they depend on. We operate four conservation centers across western Mongolia — Kharkhiraa, Margaz, Bulnai, and Aldarkhaan — which together form Wild Cats Valley, a connected corridor of land, water, sky, and species.

How we work

We pair on-the-ground rangers, scientists, and local herders with field technology, public storytelling, and crowdfunded campaigns. Every footstep counts, and every contribution moves the corridor forward.
